Why we want to join float
Having taken part in faculty rag as dancers, we believe we can share our experience at a different level and contribute to the hall where we reside. Participating in hall float is a new experience for us. As hall float is carried out on a larger scale with higher expertise (with all sorts of talents), we also believe it will allow us to challenge ourselves, stretch our limits and make us more aware of our own strengths and weaknesses.
As all of us are well trained in dance, rag day does provide us with an apt avenue to contribute our talents to the hall and share our passion of dance with others.
Joining float is a unique experience, one that is unique to NUS. We are impressed not only by the idea itself, but also how the students are willing to sacrifice their holidays to work hard together to build an amazing structure out from scratch and put together a performance that complements it.
We believe that the several months of hard work will eventually pay off as everlasting memories and strong friendships, and it will be a journey that can add colour and meaning to our university life. It also serves as an eye opening and learning experience as it exposes us to skills of the other departments which we may otherwise never have the chance to learn about in the near future.
We look forward to an interactive dance with our very own float, and hope that the experience will be a fun and rewarding one.

What is Float?
Many have asked this question and there are very different answers given by various seniors who have floated before. As a Production Manager of this year's float, i hope to answer this question to anyone who has this burning question in their hearts.
I joined float without knowing exactly what is float. I had problems in my first weeks of my floating days. I was confused, lost and didn't had much sense of belonging to begin with. I had joined for the sake of an experience. I endured and began to experience the pride of completing a prop i designed and had built it out of scraps! The day when i first see my completed prop, i was overwhelmed with joy. Subsequently, i began to love what i do. Confidence grew as i learn more and more each day in float. There were tough times, painful times, frustrating times... And times where i almost thought of giving up. But whenever i see fellow floaters who have dedicated their holidays with me, not giving up, i decided to push on. On RAG Day, when we finished our performance, we hugged and we cried. We had completed a journey few can endure. THIS IS THE PRIDE AND JOY OF A FLOATER!
To all floaters: Feel for the prop you are working on. Use your hands to make it shine on RAG Day. When the going gets tough, close your eyes and listen to the prop's voice. Listen to how it wants to display itself in front of the audience. Use your heart more.

Float Initiation

Every floater is required to be initiated to be called a floater. This year, we decide to be initiated the KE way...
Getting up the ardous slope requires teamwork, determination, and courage!!!
In float, hardwork always pays off, one way or another... Pizzas were our reward for overcoming the slope...
Alcazar: Our story begins~
On 1st june 2008, our float production commences. Our journey begins. People from various countries, culture, faculties come together with one common goal: To put up a spectacular and stunning float presentation on 8th Aug!
We undertake the life of a floater, a highly respected role in any hall in NUS. Being a floater is a LIFESTYLE and making the float is our MISSION.
